The essential oils are absorbed through the cotton wick, causing a colour change in the petals. When first used, the flower absorbs about 2cms of oil, which ‘refreshes’ when needed to maintain the moisture and fragrance. Due to the petals being natural wood, sola flowers may show wood grain when more saturated.
